New Tools Now Live: Strengthening Somerset’s Multi‑Agency Response to Child Exploitation

We were excited to announce the launch of the updated Multi‑Agency Exploitation Screening Tool and the brand‑new Child Exploitation Initial Response Pathway (including Serious Youth Violence) at the Serious Youth Violence and Exploitation Conference on Thursday 29th January – these are now live on the SSCP website!

These refreshed resources give practitioners clearer guidance, more consistent processes, and stronger multi‑agency alignment when identifying and responding to concerns of exploitation.

What’s new?

  • A streamlined multi-agency screening tool with clearer prompts and child‑centred, trauma‑informed language to support practitioner decision making
  • A new Initial Response Pathway supporting practitioners decision making when concerns first emerge
  • Improved pathway for People, Places and Spaces linked to exploitation
  • A sharper focus on contextual safeguarding, online risk, peer dynamics, and the child’s lived experience

Why it matters

These tools support earlier identification, stronger decision‑making and a more confident, coordinated safeguarding response across all partner agencies.
