New Resource: Safeguarding in Sport webpage

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Safeguarding in Sport webpage on the Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) site! This dedicated hub is designed to support safeguarding practitioners, coaches, and welfare officers in creating safe, inclusive environments for children and young people in sport.

Safeguarding in sport is essential to protect children from harm and ensure they can thrive in positive, supportive settings. Our new page brings together practical guidance, training opportunities, and key resources to help you meet your responsibilities and embed best practice.

  • Links to national resources including NSPCC CPSU and Sport England standards and guidance on safeguarding policies/procedures for sports organisations.
  • Local support from Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership (SASP) and Sport Welfare Officers.
  • Learning and development opportunities to strengthen your safeguarding knowledge.
  • Podcasts and webinars exploring real-world challenges and solutions.

Whether you’re a club welfare officer, coach, or safeguarding lead, this resource can help you with tools, advice, and inspiration to keep children safe in sport.
