This toolkit has been produced by the safeguarding partnership to support practitioners working with pregnant women and their families, and is used in conjunction with the South West Child Protection Procedures Pre-birth Protocol to inform safeguarding decision making.
Somerset Pre-Birth and Early Years Resources
The Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership has published the Somerset Pre-Birth and Early Years Resources, these have been produced collaboratively with practitioners from across the Partnership to help you to work with parents in the pre-birth period through to the early years.

Modules are intended to be undertaken collaboratively with families, with the primary goal of helping parents to understand how to care for their new-born baby and to develop their parenting skills so that they are able to keep their baby safe.
ICON
ICON is here to help prevent abusive head trauma and is an evidence-based programme consisting of a series of brief ‘touchpoint’ interventions that reinforce the simple message making up the ICON acronym.
