18 March is Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2025!

The NWG’s National Child Exploitation Awareness Raising Day aims to highlight the issues surrounding child exploitation: encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero-tolerance attitude to child exploitation.

The SSCP are committed to the fight against Child Exploitation and supporting victims and their families who are subjected to these forms of child abuse. But we cannot succeed without your support.

We aim to raise awareness by getting as many people as possible to learn to ‘Spot the Signs’ and engage in vital conversations to combat child exploitation across Somerset.

Look out for our #CEADay25 #SpottheSigns and #HelpingHands themed social media posts, articles and the special Child Exploitation Awareness Day themed edition of the SSCP Learning Bulletin! – subscribe to our newsletter NOW so you don’t miss out!

Together, we can work to inform, educate and prevent child abuse across Somerset.

It may be difficult for parents, carers and frontline professionals to differentiate between ordinary teenage behaviour and the risk of/abuse by exploitation. Still, some signs may signify that children or young people are being groomed for exploitation or being exploited.

Take a look at some of the signs to look out for by downloading the ‘Spot the Signs’ poster via the link below and share it with your organisation on a staff noticeboard or Teams chat.

Can you write and share a personal pledge on your hands to show support for our SSCP Helping Hands Pledge to support the NWG campaign? Take a photo of your #HelpingHnads pledge and email it to SSCP@somerset.gov.uk and also post your photo on social media with the hashtags #HelpingHands and #CEADay25 to help us raise awareness of Child Exploitation.

CHILDREN ARE GROOMED AND EXPLOITED IN DIFFERENT WAYS.

We believe that if we can make more people aware through the NWG’s national CE Awareness Day and all year round we can improve the chances of young people being heard, safeguarded and protected.

As part of Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2025 the NWG want to highlight the issues surrounding CSE in communities; for 2025 we are encouraging everyone to think, spot, and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero tolerance to child exploitation.
