FREE Reducing Parental Conflict courses

Written by Ruth James

Whether you are a parent or carer and would like to know more about reducing unhealthy conflict in your relationship, or a practitioner working with parent and carers, there are resources available to support you.

Ruth James has recently held a course relating to “Reducing the impact of conflict on everyone” which has received positive feedback, including the quotes listed below:

“I have stopped reacting and focussed even more on ensuring my behaviour and communication is always child focused. I realise how important self-care is to be the best parent I can be to my boys and am letting go of the things I can’t control.”

“It’s improved because it has helped me in how I feel and my responses and how I feel/respond to how my ex is towards me.”

If you are recently separated (i.e. in the last 12 months) developing a straightforward co-parenting relationship with your ex-partner can be fraught with difficulties. This is where we can help.

This evidence informed, 3-week online course is designed to give you practical tips on dealing with coparenting challenges when you first separate, putting the well-being of your children at the centre.

This evidence informed, 5-week online course is designed to help all separated parents navigate and improve their coparenting relationship with their ex-partner.

It is particularly relevant to those parents struggling with high levels of coparenting conflict, putting the well-being of your children at the centre.

To support contact, a draft email for parents is included below:

Dear parent,

If you are a separated parent, you might be interested in one of the new online courses below to help you navigate your coparenting relationship with your ex-partner putting the well-being of your children at the centre.

Any separated parent is welcome to come along to either course, however, the first 3 week course is particularly relevant for more recently separated parents i.e. less than 12 months whereas if you are struggling with high levels of coparenting the 5 week course may be more helpful.

2 courses run together so each separated parents can attend a different course and as long as 1 parent lives in Somerset, this course is free to attend.

Please note that the courses are not appropriate if there has been domestic abuse in the relationship.  If you are struggling with domestic abuse, please go to: www.somersetdomesticabuse.org.uk
