Our booking system is now automated, allowing access to the 2-Day Advanced Child Protection and Update training only if your certification is valid and up to date.
What’s Changed and why?
We have automated our booking system so that you will only be able to book onto the 2 Day Advanced Child Protection and Advanced Child Protection Update training if your certification is within date.
Since switching to our current booking system, we’ve seen more bookings from individuals who haven’t completed the required pre-requisite training.
The core safeguarding training is designed so that different topics are covered in different courses.
The safeguarding training pathway covers the foundations in the Introduction to Child Protection, key processes in the Advanced Child Protection 2-Day course, and essential updates in the Advanced Child Protection Update. Ensuring everyone completes the right training is vital to keeping children safe.
Booking onto the Introduction to Child Protection
The Introduction to Child Protection is the starting point for all child protection training with the SSCP for those who do not hold Qualified Social Work status.
This includes:
- Individuals new to safeguarding
- Individuals moving into Somerset from another Local Authority
- Individuals whose 2 Day Advanced Child Protection training has expired by more than 12 months.
- Individuals whose Advanced Child Protection Update has expired by more than 6 months.
Booking onto the 2 Day Advanced Child Protection
To book on the 2 Day Advanced Child Protection course you will have to have:
Attended the Introduction to Child Protection within the last 2 years
OR
Attended the Advanced Child Protection Update Training within the last 2.5 years
OR
Attended the 2 Day Advanced Child Protection within the last 2.5 years
Qualified Social Workers will be required to complete the Qualified Social Worker Pre-requisite eLearning to book on to the 2 Day Advanced Child Protection.
Booking onto the Advanced Child Protection Update Training
To book on the Advanced Child Protection Update course you will have to have:
- Attended the Advanced Child Protection 2 Day Training within the last 2yrs
OR
- Attended the Advanced Child Protection Update Training within the last 2yrs.
What if my certification runs out by the time I want to book on a course?
To book onto a course, the event date must fall within two years of completing the prerequisite training to maintain valid certification.
To help support your booking, the system will allow a maximum of a one-month grace period from the point of expiry.
To ensure your training does not expire, it is important that you book on to the relevant course in plenty of time – we recommend booking 6 months in advance to ensure you have a choice of venues or online delivery.
