Managing Relationship Conflict

As part of the SSCP NAI Awareness Week 2025 (#nurturing_all_infants), we recognise and highlight that all relationships are a work in progress and family life can be challenging. The DWP have funded the ‘Building Stronger Families Toolkit’ to support parents and carers with their relationship.

Building stronger families is Somerset’s reducing parental conflict offer.

Whether parents or Carers are together or separated, the way which they communicate can impact their children both positively and negatively.

Disagreements and arguments are normal and part of everyday life but if parents find their arguments are becoming more frequent, intense and they don’t seem able to resolve them or move on we are now able to provide help and support for them.

This programme is aimed at Unhealthy Conflict between couples where there is no domestic abuse present.

All the material is FREE to access and available to all practitioners from any agency/organisation working with pregnant mums, children, and their families across the Somerset council area.

Unhealthy parental conflict is not the same as domestic abuse – if parent is feeling afraid of their partner or feeling that they control the parent’s life then it is more likely to be domestic abuse, for further support please contact: Somerset Domestic Abuse Support helpline: 0800 6949 999
