ICON is a national programme that aims to prevent abusive head trauma and non-accidental injuries in children under two years.
To strengthen prevention, it’s important we all play our role, especially in the best start in life and early years wider workforce. It’s crucial to engage dads and male carers as evidence suggests 70% of perpetrators are men.
The message is clear: where there are babies and families, there are opportunities for all of us to provide support and advice.
This new interactive ICON tool has been designed to help people working in organisations across Somerset understand how their role could work with people to offer this crucial support and access the resources and training as part of NAI (non-accidental injury) prevention.
If you are worried or concerned about a family needing more support, encourage them to speak to a GP, midwife or heath visitor.
Always follow your organisation’s safeguarding policy.
