The Partnership Child Exploitation subgroup have updated the Missing from Home or Care protocol.
The aim of the protocol is to support a robust response from all agencies when a child goes missing, with effective follow up upon the child’s return. All agencies working with children and families in Somerset have a part to play in working together to achieve this aim.
The protocol is to be used alongside national guidance, local guidance/tools and best practice.
You can read the Children Missing from Home or Care protocol HERE
The protocol includes definitions of missing and absent, the process of reporting a child as missing, missing return interviews and information about timescales and escalation.
It also links to relevant information in the South West Child Protection Procedures about missing episodes.
You can also find out more information on the Risks Outside the Home and Child Exploitation pages of our website.
